February 2026 net worth update

March 1st, 2026 at 01:58 am

Time to update my net worth and also update you on the situation in Minneapolis. I know we're slipping out of the headlines what with the Iran attack and Epstein files and everything, but ICE/Border Patrol have not left MN as what's-his-face the "czar" claimed. There are still over 1K agents here. The noise and violence isn't as constant but it's still here. My BFF's sister went over to the building where they detain people; there are lots of helpers there because even if someone is documented and released without charges, they just throw them out into the cold, often without their phone, so people help them get home and contact family. Anyway, my BFF's sister was helping translate for a Venezuelan legal resident who got released and he had a badly broken wrist from his treatment in detention. I'm sure the other 2K agents who aren't here anymore are spreading throughout the states, causing trouble and making communities less safe, which is their real mission.

Anyway, here's our net worth update. I turn 52 on Monday so I thought I'd update my age in the Coast FIRE calculator; even with having a higher Coast number we're still over $200K ahead of where we need to be, so that's a bit of good news.

I hate being right about stuff like this, but I just KNEW that wasn’t the end of ICE. I just hate how this administration operates, and the way they lie using choice wording.

Anyway, happy early birthday, and I’m glad your finances are still coasting along!

    Happy early birthday!

Sad that more lies about ICE, but not surprising.

    Happy Birthday.
Thank you for the on the ground update on Minnesota.
I am tracking judges’ rulings across the nation and the cruelty for cruelty’s sake actions by ICE are disgusting.
Good people have to work so hard to try to mitigate the evil.

Thank you for the update "from the ground" in MN. There are just no words for this administration's cruelties. As is often said about them, "The cruelty is the point."

I hope you have a happy early birthday and congrats on being ahead on your Coast FIRE schedule!

This is so very disheartening. They were causing a lot of misery in Chicago, but that seemed to lessen once they pounced on Minneapolis. Yet it is a fact that they are continuing to cause misery everywhere they step, and why? Illegal immigrants never bothered me a bit. The ones I know are hard-working, accepting abysmal wages without complaint, cheerful and polite. Who cares about the damn border? Really? I think this administration has exacerbated the "problem" of illegal immigration, because no one will trust the system anymore. Of course they are not going to go through the steps toward legal immigration, when automatic deportation is the rule if they dare to show their faces! But legal immigration isn't the point. Cruelty is the point, as has often been said, because it's so obviously, sadly true.
