Nice progress on my birthday

March 2nd, 2010 at 04:47 pm

I actually forgot it was my birthday when I woke up this morning! But I soon felt special and birthday-girlish, because NT and AS had all my presents lined up on the kitchen island, and the first one was a 45 single of a song that my family would play at everyone's birthday, which was all set up on NT's turntable ready to play. Smile

Anyway, last night I deposited a freelance check from AS and was able to put it all toward travel, so we've got our minimum goal amounts plus a bit more set aside. And two more freelance checks on the way. She got an offer for one more freelance job, and it was a very small one so she accepted (we've agreed she won't take any more full book edits until we're settled into our new routine a bit).

Also, the U.S. mortgage and one of AS's student loan payments hit the accounts, with $376 and $59 going to principal, respectively. So $814 down, $316 to go on our March repayment goal. (The next payment won't hit for two weeks; most of the action happens in the first day or two of the month.)

Happy Birthday, CeeJay!! I hope it is a great day. I'm curious about the song title. Smile

OK, long story but you asked for it, ccf! Smile
The song is "Bungo's Birthday," and it's a song based on--but not actually appearing in--a British TV show called "The Wombles." My family randomly acquired this record from a sister's friend who went to England (I think) and it became a tradition (well before I was born) to play it on someone's birthday, dance around, and shout over the line "Roll back the carpets 'cause it's Bungo's birthday" with the birthday person's name instead.

Not until I made friends with British people did I see an episode of "The Wombles" or find out who "Bungo" was. A few years ago, one of my friends had the record and played it when we were visiting in England, and I demanded presents! (So he ran to his room and got a bunch of stuff and handed it to me--so obliging, LOL).

Anyway, it was great to have it played on my birthday again. I was actually tearing up a little from the rush of nostalgia.

Happy, happy birthday to you! Have a great one. Maybe you'll be getting a special birthday present later on in the day? Any signs of labor?

momcents, I can't stop thinking about it and wondering if that's going to happen! Nothing out of the ordinary yet; I've been feeling a little different every day for the past couple weeks, hard to put into words but I'm sure you know what I mean. Like it's getting ready to happen. But I haven't had any of the various signs or symptoms yet that I've read about. Every time I get a cramp or new pain I get excited. LOL. But so far nothing has lasted for long.

Hang in there! I was induced with child #1. I had child #2 12 months/3 weeks later. I was scheduled to be induced 12/22 at 7 AM. That child was born at 12:20 AM, the natural way, with a labor of under 2 hours from start to finish. I had no idea I was in labor, I thought it was indigestion!

Hope that reminiscence brought a laugh to you.
Have a good day and take care!

LOL, that's great. I just watched one of those baby shows on TLC where even after she figured out it was contractions, the woman said it still just felt like sharp gas pains.

Was it rhythmic at least, so you could figure it out eventually?

Thanks for sharing the story! Of course, I don't know that song, but it is exciting that you received such a thoughtful gift...one that I'm sure will continue to be a tradition. Any plans on listening to it on the baby's 'birth' day?

Enjoy your labor...when it arrives. It's a miraculous gift!

The pains were sort of erratic, not quite noticeable until they varied between 3 to 5 minutes apart. My at-the-time SIL was sleeping over to stay with the one-year old. Her dad is a doctor and she advised getting to the hospital - glad I did I was dilated to seven and within fifteen minutes and three pushes, I had my second daughter.

I'm getting quite nostalgic now about my pregnancy stories.

Best wishes to you, and have NT or AS share your news when the time comes.

I am totally hiding out from the real world today and spending far too much time on the computer while the sick child naps and the healthy child watches PBS and colors. I youtubed the Wombles Bungo Birthday. Too cute!

Hee hee, it's a cute show isn't it? What a coincidence--NT just posted a link to the song on my Facebook! Here it is for anyone who's curious to hear it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6-jvZ0O5q4

Oh, and ccf, it actually hadn't occurred to me to play it on baby's "birth day"! That's a great idea--maybe I'll get NT to upload it to the laptop, which we're bringing to the hospital anyway.

Have you lost any mucus plug yet? That usually comes a few days before. Then it starts as a tight feeling and if you touch your tummy it feels hard. But then you should have been having Braxton-Hicks for a while and recognize them.

Happy Happy Birthday and if not today, then maybe in 2 days for my sister's Birthday!

Not that I can tell, homebody. That's one of the symptoms I've been looking for. My belly has been hardening a few times a day but nothing steady or rhythmic.

AS's birthday is also in two days!

My first signs were the hardening of the belly weeks before. I remember with the first just not feeling well and laid on the couch until early evening when I realized I was having contractions. The night before my second child was born a firecracker was shot off straight toward me, accidentally. By 5am I was in labor, just woke up and realized it was time to go! She was 10 days late, so it was about time. It seems she just needed to be scared out of there. She is my more relaxed child!!

The contractions will start to be more regular just like you have read. Again, take care.

Oh brother CeeJay, you realize you are going to have to start posting several times a day and if we knew your phone number we would be calling!! Ha Ha.

Okay let's shoot for the 4th!
