My superstar celebrity household ;-)

September 30th, 2008 at 06:32 pm

Today, NT got a bit of last-minute voiceover work from a friend who works in advertising. He had two lines in a radio ad, playing a snooty, surly English butler.

On Friday before we leave, AS is doing some hand-modeling for another friend, whose publishing house is doing a book about knitting.

And what about me? I'll be the money-grubbing, pushy handler behind the scenes. Smile

Actually, I don't think either job pays; they're just favors for friends. I think we'll get a copy of the book and a CD of the ad and that's about it. Still, it's kind of funny they both got gigs the same week, out of the blue like that.

Fun, and certainly different! Gives them "experience" in case a paying job comes along!

And here is an interesting story on my end: My brother was a wannabe rocks tar back in the late 90s. He actually flew out to LA and mixed a CD that didn't do particularly well at the time. Somehow it ended up in some TV producer's sound stage and my brother's music has been the background music in several TV shows: Pensacola Wings of Gold in a tattoo parlor, Party of Five in a restaurant scene and some other odd places. He receives royalties that total $30 per year because these shows are all in syndicate in places like Brazil and Sweden.

And of course, congratulations to your voice over talent and your hand model!

Hee hee, that's awesome! I'd love some part of my life to be an odd footnote in pop-culture history.

I have a friend who occasionally works as an extra, and it's fun when he gets a blink-or-you'll-miss-it part and tells us exactly where to freeze-frame so you can see him. He got a really good spot in the courtroom in a Law and Order episode once--you could see him for several seconds!

I do admire those people who chase their dreams - music or acting - and they do end up somewhere! As background music or courtroom extras! More than I'll ever achieve...

Funny. I once did a commercial for the Irish Bayou Truckstop Lounge and Casino (not kidding) and it ran on local cable in the New Orleans suburbs for years. I was a bartender and people would say, "Hey,didn't I see you on TV?" It was funny.

lol - i had a friend who did the voice for a character in a computer game once. i think she got about $200.
i haven't really had any 'brushes' with fame, but my dad, for his job, regularly gets to meet people like iggy pop, marvin gaye, marcia hines etc
