No declutter/organize results for day 10

April 11th, 2014 at 04:31 am

Today, work just got out of control, and I'm going to be tied up more than half the day tomorrow on a conference call, so I brought work home and used my "free" time to get caught up.

I did about 3 hours of work, which was good for getting my workload back on track, but bad for my April challenge since it sucked up most of my prime decluttering/organizing time (after the kids are in bed but before I am).

I've got to get some done tomorrow! What with three nights of taxes, one night of barely decluttering and now a complete fail night, I'm itching to do something concrete. I've got my eye on the front hall closets; may try to sort the garage sale stuff into one half of the big closet so we can see how much of this stuff will be gone come May. I think I'm also safe to add some of my least favorite sweaters to the pile; I'll keep a few to make sure I've got something to wear on cold snaps, but that's about it. I'm sick of 90% of my sweaters; they either don't fit well, don't flatter or are uncomfortable.

Sounds like you have a plan for some things you can quickly declutter. I hope you get the time to get it done like you want.

And I was just thinking that I don't have to declutter my sweaters! I wear them all; they are my favorite apparel in the winter.

You've done a great job so far! Don't be too hard on yourself. Progress.

Please don't burn yourself out! When work is especially demanding, you need down time the most. De-cluttering should be...almost fun. Be-gone sweaters that itch, aren't flattering that I just don' like! Riding yourselves of equipment that must go to specific re-cycle outlets is a serious problem without a car. Perhaps the next time you need to rent a car, you can take the defunct printer to Staples or one of your region's authorized re-cycle zones.

How do you use the dressers in the closets? Once those yard sale items go, you'll have so much more space for the items you need and use regularly. Give yourself a big pat-on-the-back for all the things you got done. You now have an inventory of gift wrap and it helps to now what's at hand. What do you like for rewards?

snafu, those are actually our filing cabinets. We're so strapped for space that it's the best place we could think of to put them!

The organizing is its own reward; makes me feel like I can breathe easier. Now, if this big land deal comes through, I might treat my family to dinner at our favorite fancy restaurant! (REALLY fancy, so I usually can't justify the price.)
