I finally took "after" pics so I could share all the decorating we've been doing for the past few months!

Your home has so much character! Very nice. I have to admit that I liked the archway.

I liked both the before and after. It looks great either way!

Thanks! We did keep the archway between the living room and dining room, but the one in the living room just made it hard to use the whole room. It cut off about a fifth of the room from the rest of the living room. Like the door we had removed, it was for some other use of the space that didn't make sense for how we wanted to use it.

I liked the archway too. Frown I would have painted it white or something maybe. Also LOVE the leaded glass windows...to die for.

I thought it was pretty but I could see that it is definitely more functional without the archway.

Well ... the one we kept is even prettier. Wink https:// www. flickr.com/photos/21902614@N03/23515948766/in/dateposted-public/

It looks great both ways, but I have to agree with some others. I love the archway!

My old, MacBook Art is giving me fits. The wall colors aren't coming out 'true' as I changed photo dimension from super narrow to normal size.

Thanks for the pictures. It came out great! The radiator covers are as handsome as can be!

Absolutely charming home! I understand why it works better without the archway. My house and those surrounding it have something like that going on with the entry area and living room. Most people did what you did to make the living room effectively bigger. Mine was handled differently when a previous owner added a second story and used the "useless" area for stairs. Another person uses theirs as teensy little parlor, which was probably the original use in our homes.

What a great place! We don't have places like this where I live so it's a treat to peek into a "real" home!
