Chugging along

March 7th, 2015 at 02:02 am

Our listing officially says "contingent" on the real estate sites! We signed some stuff for the title company today. The contingency expires midnight next Friday, so almost exactly a week. The closing date out there is April 9 but it's not set in stone.

Our broker is still hemming and hawing about our refi prospects. First he was going to tell us Monday. Then he said today. I emailed him at the end of today and he hasn't gotten back to me (I know he checks his email 24/7). If I haven't heard from him Monday I'll email him again, then probably start looking around if he puts me off again. But I think he'll come through.

The big WV option expires in 5 weeks (three days after our tentative condo closing date), so we'll soon have closure on that one way or the other.

So, pretty much everything that's been up in the air will hopefully be cleared up by early April! Then I can really go crazy with planning our future. Smile

I admire your patience. I would have given that broker his marching papers if he hadn't produced some results in a month or 6 weeks! Does he happen to be Asian? Their culture has serious problems giving bad news or saying 'No,' nadda. Have you been tracking mortgage rates on-line?

Ghastly timing on WV, the oil patch is reeling, it's getting hit repeatedly with price drop by half for political reasons, no pipeline and all those potential jobs, clatter about fracking, thousands of rigs shutting down, layoff by the thousands for seasonal and shutdown combos etc.

Sending best wishes that the condo deal closes as stated. Minneapolis of on the list of best employment opportunities and that should improve confidence of buyers.

Honestly, I'd be glad if the deal fell through because of a backlash against fracking. But while there has been some in other states, WV is pretty much owned and operated by energy companies -- to the detriment of its formerly gorgeous landscape.

I think the broker has legit reasons for waiting. I just hate when people are not clear about timelines, when it's something that has such a real impact on my quality of life.
